The client for this brief is BBC Three and BBC England. They are asking for a short documentary film targeted at 16 to 24 year olds with a run time of 10 to 15 minutes. The film must highlight the importance of technology on the culture of young people and how it has impacted on modern society,
Target audience
The intended audience for the documentary is 16 to 24 year olds, meaning the content of the film must to relate to people of that age group. also the format of the film and how it is accessible, social media, online etc. this is because young people are less familiar with video formats such as CD,DVD and other hardware based video formats.
Purpose
The purpose of the short documentary is to capture the lives and culture of young people and highlight how technology has impacted upon this. It is to show the way young people use technology and how it is important to their day to day lives and how this has changed in recent years.

BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) is a national broadcasting company which operates all throughout the UK to bring news, entertainment, sport, music and their own free online streaming service, BBC IPlayer.The BBC was founded in 1922 in London by John Reith, 1st Baron Reith. The BBC first started out doing radio broadcasts which consisted of music, drama shows and talk shows. these only aired for a few hours of the day and could only be received in certain places in the country.
The BBC is the oldest and longest running broadcasting service in the UK and is used by as many as 456 million people each week in over 200 countries and in 300 million houses with the most popular being BBC 1 which shows a wide variety of content such as comedies, news, sports and movies. The BBC 1 channel is funded by the national TV license and has an estimated funding of £1.4 billion per year.
BBC 3 was introduced in 2003 and mainly broadcasted animation, comedy, movies and drama shows. they catered to an audience of 16 to 34 year olds and was a 'youth oriented channel'. In 2016, BBC 3 undergone budget cuts and ended up being closed down and replaced by an online only 'internet television service' and was only available online and through the BBC IPlayer. However, in February 2022, BBC 3 returned to television as BBC budget analysts argued that it now has 'potential to reach a wider audience' and would be more useful to people if it was brought back to linear broadcasting. BBC 3 continues to be accessible online and on television.
